Say frankly the unconditional removal of Ftenma Air Base to U.S.

　Prime Minister Hatoyama said he was going to make a decision about the Futenma Air Base in Okinawa by the last day of May. The Japanese people are waiting for his decision. While listening attentively to public opinion, he should solve the problem.

What concerns me is that the U.S. government will not reconsider the transfer plan to Henoko. Although the previous administration made a promise, it differs from public opinion. Their attitude about not listening to Prime Minister Hatoyama’s option is not good. I am angry after hearing President Obama rejects the prime minister’s offer to meet and discuss this issue. I think that U.S. views this situation as another victory over Japan. Japan is an independent country, and no foreign military base should be in Japan without our agreement.

Two big rallies against U.S. bases were held in Tokunoshima and Okinawa. It is clear that no place in Japan will accept the relocation of the Futenma Air Base. Therefore, it is time for Prime Minister Hatoyama to speak frankly to the U.S. government. The U.S. must choose another problem-solving method. The Japanese people are expecting Prime Minister Hatoyama to make the U.S. do so. He should say frankly the unconditional removal of Ftenma Air Base to U.S.
