An Understanding of History

Everyone wants to make the 21st century peaceful and safe. We must have a correct understanding of the war history of 20th century to realize it. A total of 26 million people were killed in World War I and 54 million in World War II. It was a pity that more than a half of the casualties were civilians.
The Japanese army committed many war crimes in the 20th century, such as the Manjin Massacre, Unit 731’s live human experiments and the Japanese army’s sex slaves. These are the historical facts. We Japanese must take responsibility for these and not commit such crimes again.
Not only did Japan but the U.S. also committed war crimes. The great air raid over many Japanese cities and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed more than 526 thousand civilians. Americans must know these facts and regret what they have done or they will not be able to stop the chain of wars from the 20th to the 21st century.
Let’s learn from history and make the 21st century safe and peaceful.
